This article attempts to analyze the phenomenon of the Maidan as one of the archetypes of the Ukrainian society’s political culture, an integral part of its unique historical tradition and an important factor of transformation of mass political consciousness as a necessary condition for successful modernization of the country on the foundations of humanism and democracy. For the Ukrainians Maidan is a traditional form of protest. Maidan actualized in in the conditions of its own statehood and the democratic transformation of society with all its contradictions and problems. The most significant Maidans of modern were protests in 2004 and 2013-2014. at the in . Maidan of 2013-2014, like all previous protests of Ukrainians, brightly enough manifested individualism and the attraction to anarchism with their positive and negative characteristics. Obviously, through the Maidan as a phenomenon of political life and national form of public dialogue Ukrainians demonstrated their political matrix, the political project of the Ukrainian nation – «minimal» state, which provides common rules for the functioning of the social organism and guarantees external security and wide powers to territorial communities with the right of local referenda. Maidans will be repeated until the political elite does implement an appropriate radical reform of the political system and there is established social equilibrium.
