Abstract

Political and ideological experiments and innovations of the Soviet power of the 1920s and 1930s drastically changed the socio-cultural face of the Ukrainian population, deepened the gap with historically close European values for Ukrainians, which led to the distortion of the value scale and the deformation of the morality of society, for which, in the context of terror, the practice became predominant survival. Among the methods of spreading communist values, state propaganda, culture, education, and the press were used. The Soviet identity was formed through ideological campaigns that had to form a communist outlook, to popularize official policy, to unite the population around the party organs in order to solve vital life problems. There was a formation of the Soviet political religion, which involved the brutal struggle with the Church, the destruction of the religious worldview and the traditional culture of Ukrainians. The formation of a new Soviet society meant changing the views on the family, the role of women in society. The tragic turning point in the process of Soviet transformation was the Genocide of 1932-1933, directed against the Ukrainians as a nation.
