Abstract

The article examines the process of coverage of the Ukrainian theme in the artistic films of the «school of poetic cinema» in the second half of the 1960s - the first half of the 1980 s. Traces the autochthonous content of domestic historical artistic cinema and the active involvement of ethnographic material. Working out various sources, scientific literature and used scientific methods allowed the author to investigate the process of realization of the Ukrainian theme in the Soviet cinema of the second half of the 1960 s - the first half of the 1980 s, to show the coverage of the history of Ukraine in the artistic films, to determine the personal contribution of some Ukrainian cinematographers in the task of forming Ukrainian historical cinema. The article is written in the light of modern methodological techniques for the analysis of sources and literature and is based on the principles of historicism, scientific objectivity, systemicity, as well as problemchronological and descriptive methods.
