Abstract

Prince of Pereyaslavl of Rus’ Volodymyr Glibovych – son of Glib Yuriyovych, grandson of Yuri Volodymyrovych – lived not very long life. But his name is well known in the country’s history. His personality is fi rmly connected with the fi rst mention of the word «Oukraine» in the Chronicle, which dates back to 1187 year. This reference is written in the book of the chronicles in connection with the death and burial of Volodymyr Glibovych in Pereyaslavl of Rus. This article attempts to analyze the currently available sources on the life and work of Volodymyr Glibovych. It is also necessary to defi ne its place in the history of Old Rus’ times of Ukraine.
